That said, most of these new features (including the new races, class, etc) do NOT appear in the original campaign. Personally, I felt that before the DLC the game was merely good, but with them it became great. They add new victory conditions, new ways of specialising cities, a racial upgrade system, random global events and quests, (including some fun end-game monster invasions).Įven if you do not feel like you need one more class, 3 more races, 2 more minor races, 5 or so magic specialisations, and 2 short campaigns, these gameplay changes are worth it, in my opinion. They especially make the empire building part deeper and more fun. The DLC both add a lot of depth to the random maps and scenarios that are the core of this game. Unless you only mean to play the campaigns, but I do not recommend that.
